The youth team under 16 years of handball club “Shoumen 61” recorded a draw and a loss in the second tournament for the championship of the “Black Sea” zone, which was held on Saturday in Kubrat.
The people of Shumen, who recently played together as a team, had tough opponents – the leader “Kubrat” and one of the favorites for the top positions, “Dobrudja” Dobrich.
Against “Dobrudzha” the boys of coach Larisa Kosenko played a very good match and at halftime they led by 10:8. However, their inexperience did not allow them to keep their advantage and they recorded a draw at the end of the match – 21:21.
Against the leader in the “Kubrat” zone, the boys of “Shoumen 61” gave themselves away, but were unable to overcome the opponent and lost with 18:25.
In the first tournament of the championship, held in Dobrich, “Shoumen” recorded a victory against “Kaliakra” with 22:20 and a loss against another of the favorites – “Spartak” Varna with 10:16.
In the next tournament of the championship “Shoumen 61” will have a home advantage. The competition is the last for the autumn division and will be held on December 2 in the “Arena Shumen” hall, and the people of Shumen will seek rematch from “Kubrat” and will go out for the first time against the “Opaka” team.
The goal for the newly assembled team of 16-year-olds is to qualify for the finals of the State Championship.
