Six years in prison for a driver who caused the death of three people near Stara Zagora – St. Zagora

The district court in Stara Zagora has jailed a 22-year-old man for negligently causing the death of three people and causing moderate bodily harm to two others. This was announced by the prosecution.

The accused is recognized for guiltythat on April 1 in the territory of the municipality of Chirpan, while driving a car, violated the Road Traffic Act and carelessly caused the death of a 13-year-old girl, a 63-year-old man, an 80-year-old woman, as well as moderate bodily injury to two boys, 19 and 15 years.

The injured youths were part of a group, which was moving on foot from Chirpan to the village of Zetivovo. Most walked along the grassy banquette, and some at the end of a road lane, on the asphalt, in close proximity to the banquette. After the defendant saw the group, he took a evasive maneuver. Entered the oncoming traffic lane and collided head-on with another car driven by the 63-year-old man and his 80-year-old female companion. After the collision between the two motor vehicles, the vehicle driven by the defendant struck three of the pedestrians.

Criminal proceedings went through a summary trial, and the originally imposed sentence of nine years was reduced by a third. The court applied the procedure after the defendant fully admitted his guilt and the facts and circumstances set forth in the indictment.

In July this year friends and relatives of the dead young girl, 13-year-old Hristiana, gathered in protest in front of the court.

Then the relatives insisted on a fair trial. “The accident happened on the first day of the spring break of this year. A group of children were walking along the intercity road when a car was moving in the same direction. The driver who was driving the car was traveling at a speed of 108 kilometers per hour, with a limit of 70 km/h,” said the mother of the dead child, Tanya Stoyanova.
