Deputies are listening to the Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and the Minister of Energy Rumen Radev regarding the situation with the Chaira PAVETS, which has been inactive since the spring of 2022, which is extremely important for the balancing of the energy system. The hearing is at the request of “Vazrazhdane”.
Minister Radev noted in his speech that the current repair and renovation of Chaira PAVETS is the first since its commissioning.
In 2013, the manufacturer “Toshiba” made an inspection with a prescription to carry out repairs and inspections every 12 years. This was omitted, and the actual repairs began 24 years after the introduction of PAVETS “Chaira” into operation.
“The depreciation of the facilities between 2013 and 2019 is serious,” noted Minister Radev.
The repair and rehabilitation had to be done in four steps – one for each hydro unit. The renovation was financed by the EBRD. Its value was over BGN 18 million.
The PPDB requested that the chairman of the National Security Agency be called in order to clarify the reasons for the incident.
The accident was unprecedented on a global scale, it became clear from Radev’s words. The next week, a report from a Swiss company was awaited, which analyzed the condition of every node at PAVETS “Chaira”.
Otherwise, by the end of 2024, hydro unit number two will be put into operation.
The overall repair of the Chaira PAVETS would have cost the state BGN 79 million.
