Journalist Ivaylo Tsvetkov was released on BGN 15,000 bail, NOVA reported. It was previously revealed that he was detained for 24 hours after being caught drink-driving.
The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office charged the 51-year-old journalist and publicist Ivaylo Tsvetkov-Noyzi with driving after consuming alcohol. The prosecutor’s office imposed a bail of BGN 15,000 and his driver’s license was revoked.
The prosecutor’s office specifies that early in the morning today (November 17) he was driving a BMW car on the ring road in Sofia with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.12 per thousand. He was stopped by a police patrol in the Dragalevtsi district. The concentration of alcohol is over 1.2 per thousand and was determined with the “Dreger 7510” test, according to the prosecutor’s office.
With such a concentration, the driver is subject to criminal prosecution. He has given a blood sample, the results of which are awaited.
In this case, pre-trial proceedings for a crime under Art. 343b, para. 1 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment from 1 to 3 years and a fine from 200 to 1000 BGN.
Ivaylo Tsvetkov-Noyzi was not convicted and cooperated with the investigation. The car he was driving was seized as material evidence in the case and a measure of “seizure” was imposed on him in order to ensure the punishment of “fine” provided for in the Penal Code, as well as to ensure future confiscation in favor of the state.
In mid-July, the singer Beloslava was also detained for several hours for driving after consuming alcohol.
The journalist was tested, which showed an alcohol concentration of 2.12 parts per million. His car was impounded.
