The Sofia city prosecutor’s office brought two men – 29 and 20 years old – to criminal responsibility for the vandalism in the center of Sofia during last night’s match between Bulgaria and Hungary. The 29-year-old Bulgarian citizen was charged with a crime under Art. 330, para. 2, item 1, paragraph para. 1 of the Criminal Code and decreed detention for up to 72 hours.

The pre-trial proceedings were initiated last night under the conditions of urgency with the drawing up of a protocol for inspection of the scene of the accident and are conducted by the SDVR under the guidance and supervision of the SGP.

After familiarizing himself with the evidence collected at the beginning of the investigation, the supervising prosecutor considered that it was sufficient to make a reasonable assumption that at around 7:05 p.m. last night, at the capital’s intersection of “Vasil Levski” Blvd. and “” Gurko” the accused set fire to a parked bus owned by the “Municipal Police” sector, OOP-SDVR, with a significant value – over BGN 11,000. The fire posed a danger to the lives of persons participating in a rally against the management of the Bulgarian Football Union and employees of the Ministry of the Interior, located in the immediate vicinity of the burning bus.

The law prescribes punishment for the specified crime imprisonment for a term of three to ten years.

A decision on the measure of remand for the accused is pending. The investigation into the case continues.

Before that, the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against a 20-year-old man for hooliganism and damage to other people’s property during last night’s football match.

Around 7:35 p.m. in front of the Turkish Embassy, ​​the accused E.P. committed obscene acts grossly violating public order and expressing clear disrespect for society, such as threw a stone with which he broke the rear left window of a Volkswagen police vanreported the prosecution.

The action in its content is distinguished by extreme audacity. E.P. was also accused of damaging someone else’s movable property, which is state property.

In this case, pre-trial proceedings for a crime under Art. 325, para. 2, para. 1 of the Criminal Code and under Art. 216, para. 1 of the NC, for which it is provided penalty “imprisonment”.

E.P. is detained for a period of up to 72 hours by decree of a supervising prosecutor. A request to determine a measure of remand “in custody” against the accused is about to be submitted to the court.

The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office supervises and directs another pre-trial proceedings for broken and damaged real estate, as well as for hooliganism. The investigation into them continues.

Measures are being applied to nearly 30 persons who were initially detained for a period of up to 24 hours by the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the protest under the Law on the Preservation of Public Order at Sports Events.
