The first triennial of mini textiles opens on Monday, November 20, in the “Sofia Press” gallery-bookstore at 29 “Slavyanska” street. After two “Mini textiles” exhibitions – in 2016 and 2019, organized by the “Textile” section of The Union of Bulgarian Artists with the participation of a wide range of authors from the section and quite a few invited foreign artists, as well as after several other similar exhibitions over the years, this genre won its place in the exhibition calendar of the SBH, growing into the first Bulgarian Triennial of Mini Textiles with foreign participation – Sofia 2023.
The organizing team of the triennial shared that they were pleasantly surprised by the great foreign interest in the genre and the declared desire of artists from all over the world to participate in the new Bulgarian forum. In line with the growing popularity of such exhibitions, there are 217 candidate authors from 32 countries – apart from all over Europe, their works come from Japan, South Korea, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Taiwan… There are 54 Bulgarian artists – representatives of different generations .
Mini textiles is a genre in which techniques and materials related to textiles participate alongside the freest and most diverse other materials and technologies and turn this genre into a typical representative of contemporary art without restrictions on the idea and the means of its transformation.
The exhibition from the triennial of mini textiles in the “Sofia Press” gallery-bookstore can be viewed until December 11.
