Atanasova convenes the Committee on Internal Security, they hear Stoyanov about the protest against the BFS

On 22.11 /Wednesday/ at 2:30 p.m., I am convening an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order for the hearing of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, the Director of the Main Directorate “National Police”, the director of the SDVR, the director of the main directorate “Gendarmerie, special operations and combating terrorism” and the director of the “Inspectorate” directorate in connection with the security activity of the declared peaceful protest against the leadership of the Federal Security Service, held on November 16, 2023.

This was announced by the chairperson of the PG of GERB-SDS Desislava Atanasova on social networks.

Premier Nikolay Denkov expressed his readiness to resign if Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov does not categorically recognize the police violence during the football fans’ protest and condemn it categorically.

According to Denkov, there was an excess of police rights in front of the National Stadium. GERB and DPS defended Stoyanov and suspected political interests behind PP-DB’s demand for his resignation. The two parties categorically stated that they do not want the resignation of the interior minister.

On Sunday, Stoyanov commented on the videos with violence as follows: “I categorically declare myself against such behavior.” According to Kalin Stoyanov, his requested resignation is due to an unacceptable attempt to interfere in his work by Kiril Petkov. Earlier today, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated: “In many telephone conversations, Petkov tried to interfere in the activities and personnel policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
