
Today, November 21, in the central lobby of the Rectorate of the University of Ruse, the exhibition “Comfort for the Soul” dedicated to the Day of the Christian Family was opened. The exposition shows works of art by former and current graduates and teachers from the family of the Ruse Alma Mater.
The rector, Academician Hristo Beloev, greeted the guests on the occasion of the celebration and expressed his confidence that other pen masters from the family of the Ruse Alma Mater will be included in the next performances. The opening was attended by Prof. Plamen Kangalov, vice-rector for academic work, and Assoc. Prof. Desislava Atanasova, vice-rector for internationalization and communication policy.
The initiative for the event is Assoc. Prof. Mira Dushkova, Head of the Department “Bulgarian Language, Literature, History and Art”, et al. Prof. Zivodar Dushkov. They thanked all authors who responded and provided copies of their writings. They shared desire and ideas for future initiatives and new titles to be added to the collection.
Prof. Yuliana Popova congratulated the academic community on today’s holiday with the essay “Academic Selfie”, with which she expressed her sincere excitement, wonderful thoughts and warm feelings towards the academic family of Ruse University.
Prof. Angel Smrikarov, author of poetry, and Rumen Peev, writer of novels in Bulgarian and English, addressed the guests on behalf of the artists.
The exhibition includes 88 author’s works. They are divided into 4 categories: 42 of the titles are poetic confessions, 25 books are in the prose genre, 11 are satirical works and 10 are memoirs. The authors’ literary “children” are in both Bulgarian and English. They were written between 1962 and 2023.
The paintings that enhanced the festive mood are also authored by Diana Georgieva – Di Light, an employee at the University of Ruse.
