/KROSS/ Russia said that US lawmakers’ approval of new $60.84 billion in military aid to Ukraine shows that Washington is moving deeper into a hybrid war with Russia that will end in a humiliation like the one in Vietnam or Afghanistan, reports “Reuters”.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 triggered the worst crisis in relations between Russia and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Yesterday, the US House of Representatives passed with broad bipartisan support a $95 billion legislative package providing security assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. This happened despite strong objections from some Republicans.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said it was clear the United States wanted Ukraine to “fight to the last Ukrainian,” including attacks on Russian sovereign territory and civilians.

“Washington’s ever-deepening entry into the hybrid war against Russia will turn into such a resounding and humiliating fiasco for the US as in Vietnam and Afghanistan,” she warned.

In her words, ordinary Ukrainians were “forced to be slaughtered as “gun meat”, but the United States is no longer betting on a Ukrainian victory against Russia.

Western leaders and Ukraine have portrayed the war in Ukraine as an imperial-style land grab, showing that post-Soviet Russia is one of the two biggest nation-state threats to global stability, along with China.

For his part, Putin has portrayed the war as part of a much larger struggle with the United States, which he says neglected Moscow’s interests after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and then conspired to carve up Russia and seize its natural resources.
