The streak continues! Bayer saved itself against Borussia with a goal in the last seconds – Football World – Germany

Bayer Leverkusen avoided defeat again after a late goal. This time, the Aspirins were held to a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in a match of the 30th round of the Bundesliga, with the equalizer for the German champions coming in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Thus, Xabi Alonso’s team recorded the 45th match without defeat in the season.

The visitors had claims for a penalty in the 31st minute when Frimpong was brought down in the penalty area. The referee initially let play continue, but was then called in by VAR to review the situation. However, Daniel Siebert did not change his decision not to award a penalty.

Five minutes later, Alejandro Grimaldo advanced and sent a powerful shot, which, however, flew just over the crossbar of the “yellow-blacks”. In the 39th minute, Grimaldo was again close to the goal after a shot from a direct free kick. However, the ball again went wide of the target.

At the end of the first half, Zabitzer received a precise pass and immediately took a shot that was saved by Lukasz Hradecki. Thus, the two teams separated at the break with a score of 0:0.

In the 68th minute, Nathan Tella demonstrated technique, taking a pass in the opponent’s penalty area. He then shot on the ground towards the left corner, but the Borussia keeper intervened.

The hosts struck first. In the 81st minute, Niklas Fülkrug intercepted a pass and from motion sent the ball past Hradecki for 1:0.

Victor Boniface was sent off at the end of regular time, and shortly afterwards the referee overturned his decision due to VAR intervention.

It looked as if the “aspirins” would suffer their first defeat of the season, but in the seventh minute of extra time, Josip Stanisic outran the defense of the “yellow-blacks” and headed in a cross. He sent the ball into the goal of Borussia and thus brought the draw.

As you know, Bayer Leverkusen has already secured the Bundesliga title. Borussia Dortmund are in fifth place with 57 points, two behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig.
