Prof. Oleg Yordanov: Trump is trying to stop any successful policies of Biden

The US House of Representatives approved the long-awaited financial aid for Ukraine worth 61 billion dollars.

Prof. Oleg Yordanov, who lives and teaches in the USA, explained to BNR that this was one of the four measures that were voted on. The total amount was 95 billion, separately 9 billion for humanitarian aid to both Gaza and Ukrainehe added.

What is important is how the most problematic measure was voted on – that of money for Ukrainesaid Prof. Yordanov and indicated:

“Despite the opposition of a large number of Republicans, the vote was 311 to 112. All 210 Democrats voted in favor, 101 Republicans also voted in favor to 112 against the measure.”

In an interview for the program “Horizon do Obed”, Prof. Yordanov reminded that at the beginning of the war, not only Europe, but also the USA was firmly on the side of Ukraine. To this day, over 69% think Putin should be stopped. However, there is an active majority, led by Donald Trump, who oppose this aid and US involvement in generalhe pointed out.

“The impression is that Trump is trying to stop any successful policies from incumbent Biden with one goal – personal gain given the upcoming elections”.

according to him Trump has not changed his stance on aid to Ukraine, but there has been intense pressure on him for his stance.

Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, finally gathered the courage, despite resistance, to propose this for a vote in Congress, Prof. Oleg Yordanov continued his commentary. In his words the reactions of the most radical part of the Republican Party are very sharp. according to him they can easily change it. And emphasized that there are indications at the moment that The Democratic Party is ready to help Johnson keep his position. But:

“If he remains speaker with the help of the Democrats, it would probably spell the end of his political career in the Republican Party. He has not overcome the risks personally“.

Many people hope that a change in US policy and attitude will follow, Prof. Yordanov concluded. according to him the American political class needs to experience some kind of evolution that returns us to normal democratic rules and procedures.
