A specialized police operation is taking place in Burgas. It targets errant scooters and cyclists on pedestrian areas. Mobile police teams are deployed at several locations in the central city.
In the pedestrian areas of the seaside town, the movement of bicycles or bicycles is prohibited. That is why the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers are watching. At the moment, there is no exact information about how many have been sanctioned, but certainly there are many. Police officers carry out an on-site inspection and issue a ticket. The fine is BGN 50 for a scooter, and BGN 30 for a bicycle.
Plamen Manev: “Very quickly, yes! I’m guilty. There’s nothing I can do. It’s definitely right because there are a lot of incidents.”
Radostina Tsenova: “We must follow the rules and not drive, because there are indeed cases of very high speed and it is very dangerous for passers-by.”
“There are mothers with small children in strollers. And the goal is rather preventive. Not so much to fine them as to preemptively stop these drivers from crossing pedestrian zones. There are enough other designated places where they can move and it is not a problem for a short section to push either the scooter or the bicycle”, said head. inspector Ivaylo Indjov, head of the “Security Police” at First RU-Burgas.
