The London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal will be of great importance to the Gunners’ championship ambitions, and Mikel Arteta’s side will apparently have a mitigating circumstance as the Blues’ best player this season, Cole Palmer, is under question about the derby due to illness.
Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City before the very end of the transfer window on the eve of the new season and immediately established himself as an absolute hit in the Premier League, scoring 20 goals to move level with Erling Holland at the top of the list top scorers in the English championship.
“We’ll have to see how he feels tomorrow morning, but from what I see today, he won’t be able to help us,” Mauricio Pochettino said at his pre-derby press conference.
In addition to Palmer, the derby is expected to miss Malo Gusto, who was injured in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
