Turkey’s Trade Minister Omer Bolat, who is accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his visit to Baghdad, met with Iraqi Trade Minister Etir Dawud Selman Al-Ghariri.

Bolat said that his meeting with Al-Ghariri was very productive and he and he agreed to establish a strong partnership between Turkey and Iraq in all fields, including trade, logistics, construction, investment, energy and tourism.

“During the meeting, we took important decisions, both to strengthen the technical and legal infrastructure of trade between our countries, and to establish deep-rooted partnerships between our private sectors in all areas,” Bolat said on his social media profile.

The Commerce Minister also wrote: “Cooperation within the framework of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), which is among the agreements to be signed today, will serve as the main platform for the implementation of these decisions.” With our trade volume of $20 billion by 2023 and 1,101 projects worth $34.6 billion completed by our contractors to date, we are poised to elevate our relationship with Iraq, one of the country’s most important trading partners us, on a much higher level.’
