“I still go with security, but I hope soon it won’t be necessary. There were many threats, so I don’t know if the perpetrators are known, since the case is being investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At this stage, I don’t feel completely safe, but I hope , that when a solution to the problem is found, things will calm down.”

This was commented on bTV by the regional governor of Sofia, Vyara Todeva. Her security was assigned because of the events surrounding the dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army in the Prince’s Garden. During the demonstrations in defense of the monument, Todeva received numerous threats.

We remind you that yesterday the plates with the inscription of the Soviet monument in Sofia were removed. How does the dismantling proceed?

The regional governor explained that the Metropolitan Municipality has a plan and preparations are underway to pour a slab to protect the monument from atmospheric conditions.

“Next is a competition that will be announced by the Metropolitan Municipality to decide what will be in the Prince’s Garden,” she pointed out.

According to her claims, the monument has many compromised plates.

“For the time being, the monument will not be repaired until its fate is decided,” Todeva said categorically.

She confirmed that the dismantled figures are still in the village of Lozen, where they await restoration. “We are preparing to start the public procurement for their restoration”, specified the regional governor of Sofia.
