--

Levski’s team came just one success away from triumphing in the men’s National Volleyball League (NVL) after outplaying arch-rivals CSKA in the second leg of the final series as well.

In the capital’s “Hristo Botev” hall, the “blues” prevailed with a 3:1 (25:20, 30:28, 19:25, 25:22) game and thus already have a lead of 2-0 success in the dispute for the golden medals, which can be decided already on Friday (April 29) from 19:00 in the “Levski Sofia” hall.

Tonight’s match started evenly, as in the opening part the guests first tried to break away at 14:10, but CSKA reacted and regained strength at 18:18. However, a series of five consecutive points on Levski’s account followed, which turned out to be decisive for the team to close the set after 25:20.

In the second again, Nikolay Zhelyazkov’s competitors took a solid lead at 13:8, which subsequently grew to seven points at 19:12. However, the “Reds” refused to give up and after strong performances by Ivan Kolev and Todor Kostov, who appeared from the bench, they managed to completely erase their passive, reflecting two gameballs on the way to the tie – 24:24. In the following minutes, Alexander Popov’s team missed a chance to even close the part, which eventually went to Levski’s asset again after a successful block for 30:28.

The third started with an advantage for the hosts, who took the initiative early on, building a six-point lead at 15:19. The introduction of Kristijan Titrijski in place of Venislav Antov helped the Blues reduce some of their deficit, which was actually reduced to just a point at 14:15 after an ace from Aleksandr Kandev. However, CSKA quickly regained control of events on the court and at the end of the set showed that they were the better team on their way to a 25:19 victory.

The “armies” continued with their good performances in the fourth game, in which, after an equal start, they took the lead at 16:12. Subsequently, however, a series of good serves by Vladimir Garkov helped the visitors to complete a turnaround and lead by several points at 21:18. Until the end, Levski had no problems with the plays to put an end to the dispute after 25:22 in his favor.
