The temporary commission investigating corruption practices in the “Customs” Agency heard the former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Todorov, and the former Minister of the Interior, and now an MP from “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria”, Boyko Rashkov.

“The commission is ready with the accusations before it has finished its work,” said Boyko Rashkov. He accused MPs Stanislav Balabanov (“There is such a people”) and Hamrd Hamid (DPS) that they had already pronounced a verdict and the commission was working formally.

Before him, the former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Todorov, stated to the commission that he had seen Stefan Dimitrov in the ministry building in meetings with Boyko Rashkov. Dimitrov was accused of participating in a smuggling channel together with his father Marin Dimitrov, the former director of the “Customs” Agency Petya Bankova and Nikola Nikolov – Pascal. Some of the visits were made through a side entrance of the department, which is why Dimitrov was not recorded in the book for visitors.

Todorov also said that Rashkov’s driver waited for Stefan Dimitrov in the parking lot of the ministry, and then accompanied him to Rashkov’s office. According to the former chief secretary, such visits through the “transport entrance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” are not a frequent practice, but at least “once or twice” he saw Stefan Dimitrov there.
Petar Todorov explained that he had not received any reports regarding Stefan and Marin Dimitrovi. Todorov found out in the spring of 2022 that DANS was interested in them. Boyko Rashkov pointed out in the commission that his acquaintance with Marin Dimitrov was in connection with a signal he made to him as a minister. The signal, according to Rashkov, is related to a case “crushed by the prosecutor’s office” in relation to former minister Miroslav Naydenov and former prime minister Boyko Borisov.

“You don’t ask why Dimitrov came to me, but where did he come in from,” said Boyko Rashkov indignantly. He recalled that
that his acquaintance with Marin Dimitrov is related to a tip-off, is related to a case “crushed by the prosecutor’s office” in relation to former minister Miroslav Naydenov and former prime minister Boyko Borisov.

Boyko Rashkov said that he met with Dimitrovi in connection with the situation surrounding the elections in Haskovo and the buying of votes. “They brought me information about vote buyers, there were lists of 28,000 people and the money was prepared,” said Rashkov, accusing DPS of being the main buyer during elections.

He also noted that Dimitrovi was accused of a crime committed from mid-2023, and he was interior minister until July 31, 2022.

Boyko Rashkov made his presentation and left, thus the committee members were unable to ask him specific questions.
