The prosecutor’s office refused to initiate criminal proceedings against the director of “Pirogov”, Dr. Valentin Dimitrov, due to a lack of evidence of a crime. This was announced by the Ministry of Health.

A few months ago, the former Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov referred the prosecution on the basis of violations found by the “Internal Audit” unit of the Ministry during the period in which the hospital was managed by Dr. Dimitrov.

The decision to refuse to institute criminal proceedings is based on an inspection and report by the State Financial Inspection Agency.

The mandate of the director of “Pirogov” Dr. Valentin Dimitrov expired on April 23. The Ministry of Health has not yet announced a competition for the management of the emergency hospital.
