The Ministry of Health has received information from the prosecutor’s office that a refusal to institute criminal proceedings has been issued regarding the executive director of UMBALSM “N. I. Pirogov” in relation to the findings contained in the report of the “Internal Audit” Unit in the Ministry and the inspection report of the State Financial Inspection Agency, the Ministry of Health announced.

The reason for the refusal is that there is no evidence of a crime.

The announcement of the health department is a clarification in connection with a statement of the acting minister of health from today, in which she commented on the refusal of the prosecutor’s office.

On December 5, 2023, the Ministry of Health confirmed to BTA that the director of N.I. Pirogov UMBALSM, Dr. Valentin Dimitrov, was dismissed from his post. The Minister of Health Prof. Hristo Hinkov announced then that an audit carried out at Pirogov Hospital in the period June 2022 – July 2023 showed financial violations in the medical facility, as well as that the hospital was in a bad financial condition.

On April 11, the Ministry of Health reported that the Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Galya Kondeva, canceled the order for the dismissal of Dr. Valentin Dimitrov.
