The prosecutor’s collegium initiates disciplinary proceedings against the military district prosecutor of Sofia – Court and Prosecutor’s Office

The prosecutor’s collegium opened disciplinary proceedings against the military district prosecutor of Sofia, Adalbert Krastev.

It is at the request of acting chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov, who is demanding his dismissal.

In his proposal, Sarafov wants the most severe disciplinary punishment for Krastev because of his “numerous disciplinary violations and systematic failure to fulfill his official duties”.

The violations were established during a complex inspection carried out by prosecutors from the Supreme and Military Appeals Prosecutor’s Office.

Sarafov motivated his proposal to the High Prosecutor’s Council with the results of a complex inspection carried out by a team of prosecutors for the period January 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023.

The audit found violations of the principle of random selection in the allocation of cases, work not only on pre-trial proceedings, but also on files, distortion of data on the workload of prosecutors, including data on the average workload of all district prosecutors’ offices, BNR writes.
