The people of Malawi are fighting against hunger through food diversificationVoice of America (VOA) reported.

Malawians have long relied on Nsima (maize flour porridge) as a staple food. It is eaten with meat, fish and vegetables. This food is also eaten in other African countries in the region.

But in Malawi the saying goes: “If you haven’t eaten Nsima, you haven’t”.

No matter what other crops the farmers grow, the local charity Never Ending Food in Malawi’s capital Ilongwe, is working to change that.

The manager says that farmers learn about over 200 types of crops they can grow and eat. The reason is not only to have a variety of foods on their table, but also to provide them with better nutrition.
