Malawians are fighting hunger through food diversification, reported Voice of America (VOA). Malawians have long relied on Nsima (maize flour porridge) as a staple food. It is combined with meat, fish and vegetables. This food is also consumed in other African countries in the region. In Malawi, the saying goes, “If you haven’t eaten Nsima, you haven’t.”

The manager says that this way people have more variety of food on their table. Up to 40% of Malawi’s population is currently facing food insecurity.
