Parliament has adopted at second reading changes to the Law on the Associations of Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals, Physician Assistants, Dental Technicians and Assistant Pharmacists. They are related to the creation of a class organization “Bulgarian Union of Medical Assistants and Paramedics”
The MPs approved in the second reading changes to the Penal Code related to guaranteeing the right of the victim of a sexual crime to benefit from the right of defense in a sufficiently long period after reaching the age of majority. The amendments introduced by the Council of Ministers were supported by 101 people’s representatives, eight voted “against” and 42 abstained. The changes also indicate that for fornication of a minor, the punishment will be imprisonment from two to ten years.
The National Innovation Fund will be established as a legal entity with its seat in the city of Sofia, the MPs decided with the second reading of the Bill on Promotion of Scientific Research and Innovation. The draft law defines the framework related to the promotion of the development of research activity and the scope of fundamental and applied scientific research. Deputies voted on the second reading the changes in the Law on Support for Agricultural Producers, which guarantee the implementation of measures to support farmers. The changes provide for an extension until December 31, 2026 of the period for applying state aid in the form of a discount on the value of the excise duty on gas oil used in primary agricultural production”.
With 114 votes “for”, 38 “against” and 8 “abstentions”, the National Assembly approved in the second reading changes to the law on Bulgarians living outside the Republic of Bulgaria, which create a policy coordination council for Bulgarians abroad. The purpose of the council is to perform functions as the main operating mechanism for overall coordination with regard to the Bulgarian communities and their organizations outside the country.
