Rafael Nadal speaks to the media ahead of the tournament in Madrid. He shared that after the two games played in Barcelona, he still doesn’t look 100 percent.
“If I arrive in Paris the way I feel today, I will not play at Roland Garros.” I will play Roland Garros if I feel competitive. If I can’t play, I can’t. It won’t be the end of the world or the end of my career. I still have goals after Roland Garros, like the Olympics,” Nadal said.
“I don’t think I can play at 100% here, but it is important to be able to play for the last time on this court where I experienced many beautiful moments,” said the tennis player from Mallorca.
Nadal arrives at the tournament in Madrid without expectations. “The ideal thing is to play with a little bit of restriction, even if you lose. If it wasn’t for Madrid, I probably wouldn’t be playing tomorrow,” he said ahead of his debut this Thursday against Darwin Blanche.
“That doesn’t mean I’m giving up on anything in the next three weeks because I don’t know what’s going to happen. I will do whatever I can to get to Paris and if I can’t, I can’t,” he added.
