US President Joseph Biden today blamed former President Donald Trump for the new restrictions on the right to abortion in the state of Florida. “Let’s be very clear, there’s only one person responsible for this nightmare. He’s bragging about it. Donald Trump,” Biden told supporters in the city of Tampa, noting that abortion rights “must be constitutional,” Reuters reported.
“It’s not about the rights of the (federal) states, it’s about the rights of women,” Biden said, and assessed that Trump is “worried that voters will hold him accountable for the cruelty and chaos he has created.” Earlier this month, the Florida Supreme Court approved a law banning abortions after the first six weeks of pregnancy, a period in which most women do not even know they are pregnant, Reuters writes.

The topic of abortion is important in the upcoming November 5th election in the United States, and Democrats believe that strict restrictions on this right in Florida and Arizona will “push” Trump voters to Biden.

In the 2022 election, Trump won 51.2 percent of that state and Biden won 47.9 percent.

The head of the Florida Democratic Party, Nikki Fried, said that Biden understands that victory in this state is unlikely, but it is worth a try.
