127 trainees successfully completed their professional training at the Center for Specialization and Vocational Training in Pazardzhik. In the town square, in front of their loved ones, they took a solemn oath before joining the ranks of DG Border Police.
Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Toni Todorov and Acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Chief Commissioner Dimitar Kangaldzhiev attended the ceremony at Saedinenie Square, Director of the ODMVR – Pazardzhik Senior Commissioner Daniel Lukov and Rector of the AMVR .Commissioner Prof. Dr. Ivan Vidolov. Among the official guests of the event were the regional governor of the Pazardzhik region, Valentina Kaitazova, and the mayor of the municipality, Petar Kulenski.
“The work of border policemen is tense and risky, but also a true manifestation of the highest duty to the fatherland. I am convinced that this will motivate you and give you strength in the difficult professional path you have chosen to follow. Be uncompromising in the performance of your tasks, because there is no greater pride than the trust to be real guards of the Motherland”. With these words, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Kalin Stoyanov, welcomed the new border guards. Monitoring and guarding the border, active border control, cooperation with Bulgarian and foreign colleagues are only part of the daily activities for which they were trained during the past months. In this sense, the interior minister emphasized the important role that Bulgaria has as a member of the Schengen area: “We must be able to guarantee to the European countries that we are a reliable partner, that we have the capacity and the will to deal with challenges such as the increased passenger flow, illegal migration, smuggling, terrorism and a number of other risks’.
With wishes for determination before the trials, Minister Stoyanov congratulated his new colleagues on what they have achieved so far. “Do not bend in the face of difficulties and always be a worthy example to your fellow citizens,” he charged them.
