Joe Biden signed into law the military aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

The law takes effect immediately

The American president Joe Biden signed into law today the much-vulnerable bill that provides billions of dollars in new military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwanreaching an unusual bipartisan consensus a few months before the presidential election and ending his feud with Republicans in Congressa, reported Reuters.

“This law gives vital support to America’s partners to defend against threats to their sovereignty” Biden said.

The new military aid package includes $61 billion for Ukraine and 26 billion dollars for Israelas well as $1 billion for humanitarian aid to Gaza and $8 billion to contain China’s military might in the Indo-Pacific region, according to Reuters.

The law takes effect immediately, and Biden has indicated that he has approved an initial shipment of weapons to Ukraine worth 1 billion dollars, which will start within hours, BTA reports. This initial package includes combat vehicles, ammunition for the Stinger and HYMARS systems, 155 mm artillery shells, ammunition for Javelin anti-tank systems and other weapons that can immediately go to the front.

Biden thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives Congressand on USA Mike Johnson on breaking the deadlock on the new military aid package and promised to soon address border security, a key issue for Republicans.

“The law is an example of what America is capable of when we come together despite our differences” said the American president.

Biden accused Trump-loyal Republicans of blocking aid for months.

The American leader said the adoption of the law sends a clear message to the Russian president Vladimir Putinwhose army made progress in Ukraine.

“He failed again. America stands behind its friends /…/ We will bow to no one, no one, certainly not Vladimir Putin” Biden said.
