Journalist Dimitar Stoyanov from BIRD has been charged with threats to kill and hooliganism. announced the Director of the SDVR Chief Commissioner Lubomir Nikolov.
He said that on April 22, a scandal was reported to the Metropolitan Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on “Vasil Petleshkov” street in the “Hadji Dimitar” district of the capital. The 40-year-old man who called 112 said he was threatened with a weapon and feared for his life.
After an investigation, it was established that the possible perpetrator was Dimitar Stoyanov. He was requested by phone to report to the Fifth District Office. Stoyanov stated that he first had to be examined in “Pirogov”.
“However, his certification took too much time,” said the head of the SDVR. It was clear from his words that DiMiter Stoyanov went to “Pirogov” only after 10 p.m., and that after the intervention of the law enforcement authorities.
“Previously, an inquiry was made at “Pirogov” whether such a person passed through the hospital, but the colleagues established that he did not go there. That’s why they went to the hospital to personally check if such a person is waiting there for examination,” Lyubomir Nikolov explained further, quoted by bTV.
Dimitar Stoyanov was found in his home. After undergoing a medical examination, he was detained for 24 hours and charged with hooliganism and threatening to kill.
“This is a daily and routine activity of SDVR employees. It is done according to protocol, there is a procedure. It does not depend on which person is the subject of the report or against whom the report was filed,” explained Nikolov.
From Lyubomir Nikolov’s words, it also became clear that the wife of Dimitar Stoyanov also filed a complaint with 5 RU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs yesterday. However, it will still be assessed whether it should be included in the current pre-trial proceedings, or whether a new investigation should be carried out with the filing of a new charge.
“Two people were questioned during the pre-trial proceedings. There were no reports that the NRA officer who was threatened with a gun was also aggressive towards other people in the neighborhood“, explained the head of 5 RU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the capital.
The director of SDVR stated that according to initial data the reason for the conflict is a parking space on the street.
The full recording from the security camera in the case has been confiscated by the authorities, Nikolov pointed out.
The police also indicated that Stoyanov has a permit to possess a weapon. As of now, his gun has been confiscated.
