LIVE: The crisis in Ukraine, 25.04 – Biden signed the military aid, the first shipment is already on the way

--

26 months have passed since the start of the war in Ukraine. During this period, things at the front gradually reached a state of equilibrium. In Donbas, the skirmish line settled in Donetsk Oblast after virtually all of Luhansk Oblast was captured by the Russian army, but a successful Ukrainian counter-offensive in Kharkiv Oblast has led to Ukrainian pressure in Luhansk Oblast as well, where the Russians have ceded some territory and are desperately defending key points along the important line Svatovo – Kremena. In the Kherson region, the Ukrainians have already liberated the city of Kherson, with the Russian forces retreating east of the Dnieper, but they are already attacking in all directions of the front – Avdeevka, Bakhmut, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, Liman. Avdeevka was ceded to the Russians on February 17, 2024. The issue with the Zaporizhzhia NPP also remains open.

US President Joe Biden has officially signed the package of military aid to Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of the country announced. From there, they provided a list of the weapons included in the next delivery – the first under the new package. This is the 56th tranche of equipment from the Biden administration to be provided from the stockpiles of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine starting in August 2021. “I assure you that the deliveries begin immediately. In the next few hours – literally in a few hours, we will begin sending equipment to Ukraine for air defense munitions, artillery for missile systems and armored vehicles,” the US president said after officially signing military aid.
