A lack of quorum disrupted the start of today’s session in the parliament. The deputies from GERB and DPS did not register at the initial invitation from Rosen Zhelyazkov. In fact, there was only one representative from GERB.

55 deputies from PPDB, DPS – 0, “Vazrazhdane” – 34, BSP for Bulgaria – 17, ITN – 9, GERB-SDS – 1 registered in the hall.

The lack of a quorum came against the background of the PPDB and BSP demand that Rosen Zhelyazkov be removed from the post of Speaker of the National Assembly on the penultimate working day of this parliament.

PPDB and BSP filed a request for early release of Zhelyazkov for his overall behavior as the head of the institution and for systematic non-implementation of the legislative program.

Earlier, the resignation of the Speaker of the Parliament was also demanded by “Vazrazhdane”.

The second registration was announced for 9:30. Well after the appointed time, the deputies from GERB began to enter the plenary hall one by one and take their assigned seats. At 9:40 Delyan Peevski also entered the hall.

Now Zhelyazkov himself was missing. His deputies Rositsa Kirova and Nikola Minchev are on the presidium. Zhelyazkov entered the hall at 9:42 and invited his colleagues to register. The quorum was assembled and the starting bell rang.

Zhelyazkov proposed to include two extraordinary items, one of which concerns a draft decision on the provision of funds to “Min Maritsa Iztok”, and the second – the request for his removal. He suggested that the one about the mines be the first for today, and for his removal – as number 5, however, today’s working hours continued until its acceptance.

Point one was accepted. Point two also, but a re-vote was requested. 128 were for, 103 against.

Asen Vasilev asked for the procedure and proposed that point 5 become point 1. Delyan Dobrev made a counter proposal. “I understand the attempts of the “Change” to block the future of the “Maritsa Iztok” mine, and we will not allow that,” he said. Denkov also asked for a procedure, but Zhelyazkov cut him off – “Voting mode”. 129 people’s representatives supported Vassilev’s proposal. Zhelyazkov resigned, handing over the leadership of the meeting to Rositsa Kirova.
