A Russian attack on NATO will inevitably end in defeat for Moscow. This was stated before the parliament by the Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, quoted by “Euronews”.
However, he indicated that the Alliance must strengthen its defenses.
“It is not we – the West – who should be afraid of a clash with Putin, but the oppositeSikorsky emphasized. “Putin’s only hope is our lack of resolve,” he warned, noting that the nominal GDP of NATO and the European Union is approximately $45 trillion, and the combined GDP of Russia and Belarus is about 20 times smaller.
Sikorski described the new foreign policy direction of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government, explaining how Poland’s priorities have changed since last year’s election.
He noted that Poland wants to return to the group of countries that set the agenda of the European Union.

Tusk’s government replaced a conservative cabinet led by the right-wing Law and Justice party, which emphasized the importance of ties with the United States and sometimes took a confrontational stance toward the European Union and, in particular, Germany, which occupied Poland during World War II.
However, Sikorski said that Poland’s development and security must be based on both transatlantic cooperation and European integration, and assured that Warsaw is ready to take responsibility for global challenges.

He also emphasized the importance of friendship with Germany, accusing the previous government of choosing confrontation.
Poland is on the eastern flank of both NATO and the European Union, of which it is a member, and borders Russia and Belarus, as well as Ukraine. It is a key logistics hub for Western weapons sent to Kiev.
This week, Tusk was visited by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The latter announced a large increase in military aid to Ukraine, as well as his country’s commitment to spending 2.5% of its GDP annually on defense by the end of the decade.
