The National Assembly accepted the proposal of the BSP to postpone the liberalization of the electricity market by 1 year

The National Assembly accepted the proposal of the “BSP for Bulgaria” parliamentary group to postpone the liberalization of the electricity market for households by 1 year until July 2025.

“With the efforts of the BSP and at our request and insistence, today we saved the mines and the jobs of the people in them,” BSP leader Cornelia Ninova told the media earlier.

“At our request, the Roadmap for climate neutrality, which further put a cross on the coal industry, was not voted on, and after a while, again at our request, the liberalization of the electricity market for households will be postponed,” she pointed out.

Ninova specified that the initial proposal of the BSP was to postpone it by 1 year and start from July 2025, but after the talks with the protesters, the socialists will submit their proposal to postpone it by 3 years.

“Whatever happens, thanks to the BSP, people’s electricity will not increase by 20% from July 1, and we will help save both the coal plants and the jobs of these people,” the BSP leader stressed.

Ninova stated that she was satisfied with the outcome of this National Assembly: “If you remember, 15 days ago we set ourselves three tasks until the end of this parliament. One of them was precisely the postponement of liberalization, and our others were accepted a long time ago, so we are satisfied with a job well done for the benefit of the people at the end of this NA.”

“Until we have a model where everyone knows what their responsibilities are, how this energy will be sold and where it will be bought from, we will not throw the country into chaos.” Given that the government of PP-DB and GERB failed to build such a model and the electricity supply companies themselves do not know how the liberalization will happen, we ask the BSP for the support of the people, because we are capable of building such a model and we are ready to do it. said Dragomir Stoynev.

Earlier, the people’s representatives from “BSP for Bulgaria” met with the protesting miners and energy workers and recognized their demands.
