Tortured to death, burned with a cigarette and with a cut off ear – life imprisonment for the man who killed Silvia! – Crimea

IN Arna Court of Appeal upheld the life sentence of a man for the brutal murder of the woman with whom he lived as a family.

Abil Adil committed the crime in a particularly painful way for the victim, with particular cruelty and under conditions of domestic violence. He has already received a life sentence from the court in Shumen, but has asked for it to be reduced in a higher instance.

The background of a murder

Abil lived with Silvia, who was 14 years older than him, in the village of Chernoglavtsi. He often consumed alcohol in large quantities, after which he showed physical aggression towards the woman. She repeatedly left the family home and took shelter with relatives, but then returned to Abil, as he promised that he would not beat her again.

During their 3-year cohabitation, he systematically beat her and took money from her pension to buy alcohol.

One autumn day in 2022, Abil publicly struck Sylvia several times, accusing her of infidelity. The two returned to their home, where the aggression escalated and he began to beat her again. He hit her on the head and body with his fists and feet, with a tongs for a fireplace, cut her ear, burned her body with a cigarette. At different time intervals, Abil entered the room where the 69-year-old victim was lying.

He noticed that her condition was deteriorating, he did not seek medical help. When he realized that Sylvia would not survive, he locked the house with a chain and padlock as a sign that no one was inside and left the village. Five days later, the woman’s lifeless body was discovered by his minor son.

The woman’s autopsy found multiple multiple trauma injuries, including multiple broken ribs. Immediate cause of death was severe head injury.

The court accepts the conclusion that the defendant was fully aware of the consequences of the multiple blows to the victim’s vital organs, changed the means by which he caused her pain and continued to mistreat her, perceived the deterioration of her condition, but nevertheless added new ones torment and suffering, including on her naked body.

Now Abil has another chance to appeal the life sentence – this time to the Supreme Court.
