23 suspected members of the Islamic State (Daesh) jihadist group have been detained in a large-scale anti-terrorist operation carried out in seven Turkish counties. This was announced today by the Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, on his account on the Ex social network, BTA reported.

The “Bozdugan-29” action was carried out in Hatay, Yalova, Konya, Yozgat, Canakkale, Sakaria and Tekirdag districts. The most detained Daesh members are in Hatay – ten people in total, Yerlikaya pointed out.

In the period from June 1, 2023 to April 22, 2024. a total of 1,422 actions were carried out against the Islamic State in Turkey, in which 2,991 suspects were detained. 718 of them have been placed under permanent arrest, the Minister of Internal Affairs added.

In 2013, Turkey was one of the first countries to include the Islamic State in its list of terrorist organizations. Since then, the country has been repeatedly targeted by the group, with at least ten suicide attacks, seven bomb attacks and four armed attacks, killing at least 300 people and injuring hundreds more.
