The cherries are already on the stalls. The delicious fruit is sold for an impressive price of BGN 45 per kilogram.
Such tariffs have been noticed in the markets of Varna, Plovdiv and Burgas.
In order not to shock their customers, the traders have also announced a price of BGN 4.50 per 100 g, which is, however, a violation of the rules of the KZP.
Last year at this time in Plovdiv, photos of prices of BGN 75 per kilogram were shown, and prices within the range of BGN 80 per kilogram were detected in the capital.
“There are no quantities of Bulgarian cherries in the markets, there is probably a small amount of imports, hence the speculative price. We expect the first Bulgarian cherries in about 2 weeks at the earliest. I guess they may come from Turkey or Greece. The early cherries suffered on March 30 , when there were very low temperatures. We expect a much lower harvest. It will probably be around BGN 6-10 per kg. higher than last year. By the middle and end of June, it will be normalized and will be around BGN 4,” said Zhivka Grozdeva – a member of the Board of the Association of Fruit Growers in Bulgaria, in the studio of “Bulgaria morning”.
