Zlatislava Chukanova (50 kg) will box for a gold medal at the European Championships in Belgrade. Under the guidance of Borislav Georgiev and Roman Tsvetkov, she congratulated herself with success with a 4:1 judge’s vote over the very strong representative of the hosts Nina Radovanovich.
The success also means the first final for the national team at the European women’s championship.
Zlati played a very strong match and from the very beginning showered her opponent with heavy hits to the head. She continued at the same pace in the second round, and despite the constant holding and dirty actions, Radovanovic was never warned by the referee. Even so, however, Chukanova visibly dominated and took a decisive victory.
On Saturday, the national team will attack the gold medal. She will face Shannon Sweeney (Ireland).
Sevda Asenova (48 kg) won bronze. The two-time European champion, who also has three silver medals, was forced to withdraw after the first round of the match with Kristina Varga (Serbia) due to injury.
