The court adjourned the case for the accident that led to the death of 15-year-old Filip Arsov

The Sofia City Court (SGC) has postponed the first injunctive hearing in the case of the serious accident on the capital’s Gurko Street at the intersection with Shishman Street, in which 37-year-old Petar Todorov swept over and killed 15-year-old Filip Arsov on a pedestrian path . The student died on the spot on September 2 of this year. shortly after 9 p.m.

The reason for the postponement is the absence of lawyer Natsko Doichev, who represents the boy’s relatives due to another official commitment. The case is for manslaughter, and the court will make a second attempt to start the trial in a month’s time.

Todorov’s blood test then showed the presence of more than two parts per million of alcohol, and he stated that he had drunk six beers before getting into driving. It is clear from the evidence that Todorov had enough time and visibility to react to avoid the accident. According to expertise, he was driving at about 88 km/h with a 30 km/h speed limit.

The incident led to roadblocks at the intersection and then to repairs where the footpath where the boy died was raised but still lacks proper markings.

The defendant Petar Todorov came to the courtroom with his lawyer Kapka Gerginova. After his initial arrest, he was placed under house arrest. On leaving the courtroom in front of journalists, lawyer Gerginova commented that the indictment suffers from vices. According to her, the legal qualification is also incorrect, since according to her, the crime was not committed intentionally.

Gerginova pointed out that Todorov is deeply suffering for what happened, and he himself remained completely silent and refused to answer questions.

The mother of the dead boy, Nikolina Petkova, said that the crime was committed with intent. She added that she expects the case to be long and grueling. Petkova expressed hope that society would wake up so that there would be no more blackened parents.
