Nearly 52,000 farmers will receive BGN 300 million in so-called Ukrainian aid until May 15, 2024. The Ukrainian aid funds were to be paid by April 22. They were agreed at the beginning of the year with the “Denkov” cabinet after protests by farmers.

“Farmers were in desperate need of the money, albeit late, the important thing is that they get it. We are most likely going to update the budget at a later stage of the year. Even if we don’t have a government, we will have a National Assembly to do it” , the former chairman of the agricultural commission in the National Assembly, Plamen Abrovski, told “Denyat na Zivo”.
According to his words, at the front office, when negotiations were conducted and agreements were signed, the Minister of Finance was not present. “The EC has refused state aid to individuals. We are creating an unequal situation among farmers because we are providing state aid not to legal entities,” he believes.
