The Sofia City Court did not proceed with the case for Philip Arsov, who was killed on a pedestrian path.

On September 2 last year, 37-year-old Petar Todorov, drunk and speeding, hit the 15-year-old boy on a pedestrian path on Gurko Street.

The case was adjourned and scheduled for May 23 due to the failure of one of Philip’s family lawyers to appear.

The defendant Petar Todorov came to the courtroom, but remained silent. He is under house arrest.

Before the hearing, citizens and relatives of Philip, who was killed on a pedestrian crossing, gathered in front of the Courthouse demanding justice, road safety and life imprisonment for those who caused death behind the wheel.

This society needs to wake up, we can’t be killing each other like this for no reason.
We hope that the court will take a sentence that will serve as a signal to society that this should not continue,” said Krasimir Arsov, father of the murdered Philip.

“Maximum sentence for such people who step on the gas, exceed speed, with alcohol and drugs, they should get what they deserve,” shared Desislava.

The reason why today’s injunctive case for the incident of September 2, 2023 was not started is that Natsko Doichev, lawyer for the relatives of the deceased Philip, cannot be present due to work commitments. The defendant Petar Todorov came to the courthouse today, but remained silent.

“This person is in shock, deeply suffering for what happened, he is telling you, through me!”, said Kapka Gerginova, Petar Todorov’s lawyer.

After the meeting, Philip’s relatives and the citizens who came to support them went to protest in front of the capital municipality. There they demanded the immediate resignation of municipal councilor Blagovest Georgiev. Three weeks ago, he caused an accident, then ran away and refused to give an alcohol and drug test.

The municipal councilors today excluded Blagovest Georgiev from the committees in which he is a member and moved him to the one on civil society. Thus, he will have to personally explain to the citizens why he is not resigning.
