Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov qualified for his first career men’s major final after reaching the 60kg decider at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade.
In the semi-finals in the Serbian capital, our six-time champion of the Old Continent among teenagers dealt with the tough Armenian Artur Sahakyan with complete unanimity of the judges – 5:0 votes.
Thus, Radoslav Rosenov will have the opportunity to box for the gold medal on Sunday, when his opponent will be Vsevolod Shumkov from Russia.
In the final in his category, the Bulgarian national with a quota for Paris 2024, Javier Ibanez Diaz, also qualified. The naturalized Cuban did not step into the ring at all at 57kg after his opponent Samuel Quistouri of France withdrew due to injury. Ibanez will face Eduard Savin (Russia) in the title fight on Saturday (April 27).
Earlier in the evening session, Ergunal Sebakhtin (48kg) and Yasen Radev (54kg) finished with bronze medals, losing in their semi-final bouts.
