The investigation against Sofi Marinova’s son for embezzlement has been suspended
The son of Sophie Marinova – Lorenzo will not be investigated for migrant trafficking. The investigation against him as the leader of a criminal group involved in migrant trafficking was closed due to lack of evidence. “Bulgaria Today” learned this from the press center of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Burgas.
“There was an investigation against Lorenzo, but no evidence was ever collected to convict him of being a channeler. Stanchev was sentenced to 11 months probation last year.” This was said by the District Prosecutor’s Office in the seaside city.
We remind you that Lorenzo was declared a nationwide wanted man after a jeep with 9 Syrians transported by 24-year-old Ivan S. from the capital was detained at the Rusokastro checkpoint on September 21, 2022. The plumber revealed to an investigating policeman that the jeep was given to him by Lorenzo, who also promised him money after the job was done. Later, however, the detainee tried to change his testimony, only confirming that he knew Lorenzo and that on September 21, the two traveled together to Aytos, but lost their way and were stopped near Rusokastro. The Aves traveled in two cars.
Lorenzo then denied engaging in illegal activities.
In 2023, the 21-year-old son of Sofi Marinova was again detained after a white powdery substance was found in his possession.
