The US, Canada and Great Britain imposed new sanctions on Iran in response to its attack on Israel with over 300 drones and missiles, DPA reported.
The measures are primarily aimed at the trade and production of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Israel and its allied forces said they successfully repelled the Iranian attack on the night of April 14.
Tehran said it launched the attack in retaliation for an Israeli strike on Iran’s diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital Damascus on April 1, which killed senior generals from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
On Thursday, the US government said it was imposing sanctions on 16 companies, eight individuals, several ships and one aircraft that it says are helping Iran buy drones.
The British government, for its part, said it was blacklisting four companies and two individuals for their involvement in the production of Iranian drones. In addition, London further restricts the export of components that could serve this purpose.
“Today the UK and our partners sent a clear message – we will hold Iran accountable for its destabilizing behaviour,” said British Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
