This Friday (April 26), MPs managed to pass amendments to the Gambling Law at first reading, although a month earlier a similar bill submitted by Vazrazhdane was rejected.
The bill provides for gambling advertising to be banned on radio, television and other online media, in public places, including building facades. It is proposed to allow advertising on billboards, but at least 100 m from schools, on gambling halls themselves, on sports equipment and sports facilities. However, gambling advertising on products intended for minors is not allowed (you can read what else the bill provides here).
Unanimously and without debate, the parliament finally adopted changes to the Law on Defense and Armed Forces, according to which from January 1, 2025, the salaries of military personnel will increase by an average of 30%. The amendments were introduced by members of the parliamentary defense committee arguing that they would give predictability and security to servicemen and the necessary motivation to choose a military career (read more about this topic here).
In the first reading, the parliament canceled the alternative tax for mushroom and fruit pickers. The MPs also decided to go on an Easter and pre-election vacation from May 1. The Parliament adopted in the first reading another change to the contract for the first eight F-16 aircraft. The amendments do not increase the value of the international agreement between Bulgaria and the USA already signed in 2019, and no additional contributions are required.
