Manchester United overcome Leicester with the minimum 1:0 as a guest at the “King Power Stadium” in a match of the intermediate round of the Premier League. The only goal in the match came in the first half and was the work of Jaden Sancho.
The match started evenly, and the result was opened in the 23rd minute. Marcus Rashford found Jaden Sancho, who came face-to-face with Ward. The young Briton went through the goalkeeper of the “foxes” and simply added the ball into the empty goal of the hosts. Until the end of the first half, Leicester pressed, but could not find a goal.
The second half got off to a good start for the Foxes, who were frantically searching for the equaliser. Brendan Rodgers’ men played throughout the second half against a well-organised United defence, which they ultimately failed to break through.
This coming weekend, United host Arsenal at Old Trafford, while Leicester travel to Brighton.
The King Power match started fairly evenly, with a serious battle for the center of the field in the opening minutes. Both teams played skillfully and carefully built their attacks. In the 11th minute, Christian Eriksen tried his luck from the edge of the penalty area, but failed to score, taking an inaccurate shot.
The result was discovered in the 23rd minute. Jaden Sancho was superbly brought down by Marcus Rashford and from close range the England international made no mistake to open the scoring – 1:0 for United!
Nothing more interesting happened until the end of the first half. Leicester tried their best to break through the defense of the visitors, but failed, and United continued to dominate the initiative.
With the beginning of the second 45 minutes, a familiar creature was seen in the home team’s game. The “Foxes” came out more motivated and looked for the goal, but they were never able to break through the solid defense of the “Red Devils”, who in turn also had their positions in front positions, but nothing more interesting came of it.
Leicester kept looking for the goal but to no avail. The attacking trio of the “foxes” had quite a few chances, which were not so serious, but in the end, they could not get the best out of them. United’s defense continues to be brilliant.
United had to wait until the very end of the game to create something more interesting in front of the Leicester goal in the second half. Substitute Cristiano Ronaldo came close to scoring a beautiful side-scissors goal, but only centimeters separated him from scoring.
Leicester: Ward, Justin, Evans, Ndidi, Thomas, Drewsbury-Hall, Tielemans, Sumare, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy.
Manchester United: De Gea, Malacia, Martinez, Varane, Dalo, Eriksen, McTominy, Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga, Rashford.
Before the match:
The Foxes go into the match with the mindset that they have not conceded a defeat against this opponent at home in the last two years, as the Blues have managed to beat the Red Devils three times and draw one fewer.
That is the only positive in the home side’s camp, who have started the campaign with just one draw from four rounds. In the remaining matches, they conceded defeats and thus find themselves in the last position with one point. What is even more negative is that the draw was in the first round, after which all three lost.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Haag’s alumni are determined to take advantage of their opponents’ poor situation and continue their good run. They also started horribly and had 0 points after the first two rounds, but two successes followed – over Liverpool and Southampton, which are starting to restore confidence in the team.
