/KROSS/ Acting Minister of Culture Velislav Minekov visited Plovdiv for the second time as a matter of urgency because of the demolition of tobacco warehouses, declared an immovable cultural asset. He declared that he would not allow their demolition.

“It is destruction that is more than an outrage. I will not allow it at any cost. They probably think I’m idle. They probably think I’m being bribed. They probably think I will be threatened in some way. It won’t happen,” Minekov threatened.

He left urgently for the city after it became clear that the warehouse was being demolished illegally. The Minister of Culture added that today he will sign a statement to prevent similar cases in the future. Although he had earlier blocked the demolition of the buildings, late at night it continued. The police are still guarding the tobacco warehouse at 51 Hristo Botev Blvd. in the city under the hills. The Minister of Culture arrived around midnight, but the building had already been pushed and the workers had left.
