Will the Reds manager heed the Liverpool legend’s words?
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has tipped Jurgen Klopp to start Darwin Nunes in the Merseyside derby against Everton this Saturday. The Uruguayan was available for the first time in three games since being suspended for his silly red card against Crystal Palace and the Sky Sports pundit called for him to be brought back into the starting XI.
Nunes has made a positive start to his career, scoring in his first two official matches with Manchester City in the Community Shield and then against Fulham in the Premier League. However, he made a fool of himself in his first Anfield start against Crystal Palace, being sent off after a collision with Joachim Andersen.
Roberto Firmino came on as his replacement and the Brazilian performed well, scoring two goals and assisting three more in the team’s next three matches. The Uruguayan therefore faces a difficult task in displacing the striker given his form.
However, iconic centre-back Carragher has urged Klopp to ditch the Brazil international and opt for Nunes instead
The Sky Sports pundit tweeted: “Let him start! Firmino has been great in the last two games, but three games in one week will not be easy for him. Nunes is training and it’s one of the few positions we can freshen up.”
