A young man from the Belarusian State University may be in serious trouble with the country’s authorities after he accidentally caught footage of Belarusian autocrat Alexander Lukashenko meeting with students on the first day of the academic year, which is celebrated as Knowledge Day.

The Belarusian leader held an open lesson for schoolchildren and students at the Independence Palace in Minsk, talking for several hours about everything and nothing. In particular, he boasted about the first Belarusian laptop, which had as many as 12 percent local components. One of the students, Roman, was apparently bored while the father of the nation was speaking, and wrote on a sheet of paper in his notebook “Save!” (help) and showed it to someone in the audience. Unfortunately for him, at that very moment, another young man is speaking, towards whom the camera is directed, and when Roman holds up the caption, he goes live with the strange appeal.

Journalists have identified the “disaster” during the president’s wise speech, and now Roman explains “what the author wanted to say” and hopes that the televised incident will not have serious consequences for his future.

“The thing is, I couldn’t have dinner last night, I couldn’t have breakfast this morning, because I didn’t hear the alarm clock and fell asleep. Towards the end of the live broadcast, my stomach was very bad. I wrote to my curator in the messenger “Help!”. Then I also wrote it in a notebook.” – the student told Belarusian journalists. According to him, in the video, it can be seen that he is trying to pass the note to his curator, who is sitting in the front.

“It’s not like everyone thought,” says Roman, and he hopes the misunderstanding won’t affect his future as a Biotechnology student, which he managed to get into after a very difficult exam. The young man told the representatives of the media in his country that he understands the consequences of this case for himself, but states that he wants to finish his university in peace. Another student expresses a “special opinion” with a facial expression, while the Belarusian father talks about the high technologies in Belarus.

The Belarusian president’s speech lasted over four hours and was broadcast live in almost all educational institutions in the country.
