New 7 variants of an investment plan with new lower water prices were submitted by the management of Burgas Waterworks to the Regional Administration.
According to the new proposals, instead of BGN 4.39 per cubic meter of water with VAT, the price can be reduced to BGN 3.62 per cubic meter.
The drastic increase in the price of water by 59 percent from August 1 in the Burgas region is being appealed to the Administrative Court in Sofia by the mayors of Burgas, Pomorie and Sozopol.
The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office also protested the decision of KEVR setting a new price for water.
Within the deadline set by the Waterworks Association, the Waterworks-Burgas company submitted to the Regional Administration 7 new versions of its business plan, in which corrections were made, leading to the reduction of operating costs and the optimization of programs and activities, so that the increase in the price of a cubic meter of water in the district should not be with 59%.
The regional governor of Burgas, Maria Neikova, explains the price of the new options: “These seven options will contribute to the formation of a water price of BGN 3.62 – 3.63 – 3.84 – 4.08 and 4.33 depending on who of these options will be approved by the municipalities”.
Within 10 days, the 13 municipalities in the district must submit written opinions to the District Administration, in which they indicate which of the seven options for increasing the price of water is the most appropriate. These proposals must then be voted on by the Municipal Councils. Finally, the final decision on the price of water supply must again be taken by the water supply association.
Due to the upcoming procedures, it is not clear when the water price will be adjusted.
