“Levski” recorded a fifth consecutive victory in the football championship. The “Blues” put behind them the defeat on penalties by Ludogorets for the Super Cup of the country, defeating the visiting team of Arda with 2:0.
Thus, the people of Sofia overtook the Kardzhali team in the standings and for the fifth consecutive match they did not concede a goal. Stanimir Stoilov’s alumni conceded the only goal in the 0:1 defeat by CSKA 1948 in the first round. They also have to play three matches postponed due to their European matches – with Slavia, Black Sea and Ludogorets.
Ivelin Popov started from the first minute of “Georgi Asparuhov” and stayed on the field for a little over an hour.
Andrian Kraev scored in the second game in a row for his team, giving Levski a 1:0 lead in the 20th minute tonight. Filip Krastev crossed from a corner, and Kraev was positioned better than Alex Petkov and scored a header into the goalkeeper’s corner. Until the break, Welton twice tried to double the lead of his team, but without success.
In the second half, Arda had the better opportunities, as Kovachev shot wide after 55 minutes of football, and ten minutes later, Milen Zhelev shot right into the hands of Plamen Andreev. Another chance for the visitors came in the 79th minute when Lassana N’Diaye broke away alone against the home keeper, but a timely reaction from Kilian van der Kaap stopped the visitors in their search for a goal.
Three minutes before the end, Marin Petkov killed off the intrigue, finishing off a good quick attack by the “blues” with a left-footed shot to make it 2-0.
Both “Levski” and Arda have 15 points each, and Stolichani are sixth in the standings, while the guests are in seventh place.
