“As a result of the devastating management of GERB and their policy, health care is neither free nor accessible – 80 percent of hospitals are concentrated in three large cities, municipal hospitals are bankrupt with debts of half a billion leva, a number of clinics are about to be closed and there is an extraordinary hunger for personnel. The results of this management are particularly visible in Oryahovo – a municipal center without a hospital, emergency aid and real health care”. Atanas Zafirov, the leader of the list of “BSP for Bulgaria” in the 6th MIR of Vratsa, stated this to the citizens of the city and undertook to assist in finding an urgent solution to the problem.
“You know that there is an alternative for health care, and the BSP offers it – to return the state to the management and regulation of the sector. For the insured persons there should be guaranteed free access to health care, for the socially weak – a state-guaranteed minimum package of services. The BSP also proposes dropping the commercial status of hospitals, valuation of activities, preventing the demonopolization of the treasury, payment of the full amount of contributions for the designated groups, which are a commitment of the state, and introduction of a personal medical file and a differentiated VAT rate for medicines and medical devices,” he commented.
According to him, it is a crime in the 21st century for residents of an entire municipality to be deprived of basic medical care and to have to seek medical help dozens of kilometers from their place of residence.
